Glycine (abbreviated as Gly), also known as aminoacetic acid, is a non essential amino acid with the chemical formula C2H5NO2. Glycine is an amino acid that is a component of endogenous antioxidant reduced glutathione. When the body experiences severe stress, it is often supplemented externally, sometimes also known as a semi essential amino acid. [1] Glycine is the simplest amino acid.
