What do you know about Liposomal, the “bio-missile”?

1.What are Liposomal?

Liposomes are tiny, shaped vesicles made up of one or more layers of phospholipids (similar to those found in cell membranes). These phospholipid molecules have hydrophilic “heads” and hydrophobic “tails” that allow them to form a bilayer structure in water to encapsulate a drug or nutrient.

2..Hydrophilicity and lipophilicity:

Traditional oral diets, nutritional tablets, and capsules have low absorption and bioavailability.   Lipophilic and hydrophilic nutrients encapsulated in di-liposomes can bypass destructive factors and go straight to the small intestine, where they can be effectively transported to cells and tissues.

4.liposome function:

* Drug CarriersTargeted drug delivery:

Liposomes have good hydrodynamic properties and histocompatibility, and can be modified to attach specific ligands on their surface to improve the therapeutic effect of drugs on diseased tissues and reduce side effects on normal tissues.

Improvement of drug properties:

Many drugs have poor water solubility or stability, which limits their clinical applications.Liposomes can encapsulate these drugs in the internal aqueous phase or lipid bilayer, improving the water solubility and stability of the drug, and facilitating  the storage and transportation of the drug.

Slow release:

Liposomes as drug carriers can slow down the release of drugs in the body, so that the drug in a longer period of time to maintain effective blood concentration, reduce the number of times the drug is given, improve the patient's compliance with the drug.

Cosmetic field:

Moisturizing effect:

The structure of liposomes is similar to the lipid composition of the skin, which can form a moisturizing film on the surface of the skin to reduce the evaporation of water and keep the skin moist. At the same time, liposomes can also encapsulate moisturizing ingredients inside and slowly release them into the skin, continuously providing moisture to the skin.

Nutrient delivery:

Vitamins, amino acids, peptides and other nutrients can be encapsulated in liposomes, effectively delivering these nutrients to the deeper layers of the skin, promoting the metabolism of skin cells and enhancing the vitality and elasticity of the skin.

Enhance the effect of sunscreen:

Adding liposome-coated sunscreen in sunscreen products can improve the uniform distribution and adhesion of sunscreen on the skin surface, enhance the effect of sunscreen, and at the same time reduce the stimulation of sunscreen on the skin.
